In her previous role as general manager of CITN Productions, responsibilities included creating the content and ensuring smooth operations of the Cayman 27 television channel, website, app and mobile products. In 2014, April re-envisioned and relaunched the Discover Cayman tourism channel.
A former news director and anchor, April’s career as a journalist and on-air performer began as a child here in the Cayman Islands at the first radio station, ICCI-FM at the age of 5. She hosted “Just for Children with April and her Friends” She has worked as an announcer at Radio Cayman and as a television reporter/anchor at CITV-33 and CITN/CTS.
April’s wide and varied career includes serving as a contributor to CNN World Report. . She was instrumental in the development of the television industry in the Cayman Islands, setting up and even stringing cable for the islands’ first broadcast stations and putting the first newscasts on the air.
In the U.S., April anchored and reported for KRON-TV and KPIX-TV in San Francisco, anchored weekend newscasts at WREG in Memphis, Tennessee, and anchored mornings at KEYE-42 in Austin, Texas. While at KEYE-42, she received an Associated Press award for her feature reporting.
April holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Emerson College in Boston, an Associate degree from the International College of the Cayman Islands and studied production and programming at the Master’s level at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
